Wind Power
Generally the most economical source of renewable energy, competitive with and sometimes cheaper than electricity from fossil fuels and nuclear power. Good sites can produce wind power at eight to ten cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) – even less when the federal tax credit is factored in. Wind power is expected to become even more cost-effective as the industry develops larger turbines and the price of fossil fuels continues to rise, as it surely will in the long-term.

HORIZONTAL AXIS TURBINES
Horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT) have the main rotor shaft and electrical generator at the top of a tower, and must be pointed into the wind. Variable blade pitch gives the turbine blades the optimum angle of attack. Ssince the blades always move perpendicularly to the wind, receiving power through the whole rotation, the turbine operates at high efficiency.

VERTICAL AXIS TURBINES
Vertical Axis Wind turbines are different from traditional wind turbines in that thier main axis is perpindicular to the ground. Their configuration makes them ideal for both rural and urban settings and offers the owner an oppurtunity to offset the rising cost of electricity and to preserve the environment.
